1- Reservations Havasupai has gotten extremely poplular, tp be safe, reservations should be made 6-8 months prior to trip. Go to www.Havasuwaterfalls.net
2- Pack Correctly You'll be hiking 30-35 miles if you go and see all 5 or 6 of the well known falls. Make sure your pack is comfortable and your weight is evenly distributed with the heaviest part in the center of the pack, balanced evenly on the sides. Also dont have items hanging loosely that will swing on your pack. I recommend packing your pack before hand if its your first time. I absolutely love Teton Sports packs, they are the most comfortable packs out there. Or If you dont want to pack your stuff, Mules are available to take your stuff down and up.
3- Bring these 5 items to make your trip especially fun AND comfortable.
●Hammock & string or ties to hang it. ●Flotation decive/Beach Ball
●GoPro or any camera
●Misty Mate neck cooler and water mister. (Walmart 10 bucks) these kept me very cool when it got to hot.
4- Five NECESSARY items to bring
●Sunscreen & Bug-spray (Depending on the season is very hot and plenty of bugs. April-October, Bug-spray is a MUST)
●Hiking shoes, make sure they are broken in and comfortable. Try them out on a pre supai hike. Dont wear really low top shoes or those Keen hiking sandals you've been dying to wear. They'll be full of pebbles every 50 feet. You walk in a river bed most the trip and its like a gravel road. Make sure your shoes aren't flimsy either or your feet will be killing you, lots of rocks on the trail. If you hike to all the falls, your going to be hiking around 30 + miles. ●Dehydrated food & Light Mess Kit- Make your pack as light as possible. There are no camp fires so you'll need a boiler as well. Plastic, re-usable silverware is not a bad idea either.
●Medical Items. Ibuprofen, you will get soar. Mole skin or Band-Aids is a great idea for first timers, blisters could really make it less fun for you.
●Baby Powder, because chaving is never fun when you many miles more to cover.
